So a quirk if you decide you want to use Toast to convert your AVCHD to DVCPRO HD - you lose your timecode. All clips that were converted using Toast started at the TC mark of 0:00. Thankfully clips brought in via FCP's Log and Transfer retain their original TC.

so when transcoded it looses its timecode. But if you bring those transcoded files thru log & transfer they get their timecode back?
I've been usin iMovie to convert the files to quicktime. Sinve i will distribute my works in dvd, i can downgrade the resolution to a faster convertion.
When you use Toast to transcode it loses TC. FCP's Log & Transfer retains TC. I'll look more in depth to see if there's a trick to keep this from happening.
Oops, I just now fully comprehended your comment CT - no, once you use Toast the resulting QTs have their TC removed and reset to 0:00. Only if you import FIRST from ADCHD to Pro Res with Log and Transfer do you retain TC.
Hello there, i have 2 AVC HD cameras, Panasonic AG_HMC72 & SONY NX5 but still have problems, log and transfer on final cut pro 7. The timecode still resets to zero. anyone know how to retain the camera's timecode
